Russell Theatre

The Russell Theatre is a rare 1930 atmospheric movie palace on East Third Street in downtown Maysville, Kentucky, now being restored by the nonprofit Russell Theatre Corporation. One of the few surviving atmospheric theaters in the United States, its Spanish Colonial Revival auditorium was designed to feel like a Mediterranean garden, with about 707 seats. The Russell Theatre is being restored as a screen arts, performing, and educational center, and movies are still shown during the ongoing restoration.
